Meet Dr. Colleen Segall

From a young age, I knew healthcare would be a part of my future. Dentistry captured my heart because it blends science, service, and the incredible joy of helping people build confidence in their smiles. My own positive dental experiences inspired me to pursue this path, and I carry that same passion into caring for children every day.

I discovered my true calling in pediatric dentistry while serving as a general dentist in the U.S. Army. Our young soldiers frequently entered the dental clinic with anxiety rooted in limited access to quality care as a child. Coaching them through their fears sparked my desire to make a difference earlier in life for my patients. Pediatric dentistry is about teaching and coaching children and their caregivers from a young age. I love working with families and patients from infancy to establish sustainable routines and healthy, confident smiles.

Today, I strive to provide compassionate, high-quality care for every child—from infants to adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs. My greatest reward is knowing I’ve helped transform a child’s perception of dentistry into a positive and empowering experience.

Education and Experience

I believe the choices we make—even the challenging ones—shape who we become. Looking back, I’m so grateful for the decisions that led me here.

  • Bachelor of Science, Biology – Lebanon Valley College
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine – University of Pennsylvania (Health Professions Scholarship, U.S. Navy)
  • Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry – Texas A&M/Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, TX

I met Dr. Mike in dental school and, as I like to say, “I jumped ship” when we got married. I transferred my service to the U.S. Army, and we were fortunate to spend most of our active-duty time together. I practiced as a general dentist for four years before completing my pediatric dental residency, then returned to service as a pediatric dentist and faculty/mentor for the Fort Hood Advanced Education in General Dentistry Two-Year Program. Those years of service not only gave me professional growth, but also rich cultural experiences and the privilege of caring for our nation’s service members and their families.

Continuing My Educational Journey

Dentistry is called a “practice” for a reason—it’s always evolving, and I am committed to lifelong learning. I pursue advanced training in areas such as sedation, emergency medicine, pediatric medicine, dental materials, and child growth and development.

I am proud to be a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a reflection of my dedication to excellence and continued growth. I’m also an active member of:

  • American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • American Dental Association
  • Texas Dental Association
  • South Plains District Dental Society

Special Interest in Special Needs

Children with special healthcare needs hold a special place in my heart. During residency, I trained extensively at Children’s Medical Center and Scottish Rite for Children in Dallas, caring for patients with rare and complex health conditions. Parents often face unique barriers in accessing comprehensive and compassionate care for their child; I want parents to know that their children are welcome here. Every child deserves respect, patience, and individualized care – and we adapt to meet children where they are.

Outside the Office

I am blessed to share my personal and work-life journeys with my husband, Mike. He is a smart, caring, and compassionate man who pours his heart into anything he pursues. He is especially skilled at reminding us to savor the big and little life moments! We have one daughter, Sophia, who keeps us on our toes! She never meets a stranger and loves to try new things. She is certainly our biggest fan and supporter, but also our greatest teacher! I am a better person and pediatric dentist because of her.

Life seems to have a way of passing by too quickly, but this Libra loves balance! When I’m not in the office, I love traveling with my family to new places, exercising, and experiencing the outdoors. Our years stationed in Germany were filled with an abundance of travel, which sparked a deep love of culture and food. It also augmented my love of music and the arts. In fact, Dr. Mike and I recognized that no matter where we were in the world, food and music were the two things that consistently brought people together in a positive way. As a result, I have developed a passion for cooking and eating adventurously and aim to enjoy the arts scene wherever we may be!  We particularly enjoy the symphony, youth orchestras and the variety of events at Buddy Holly Hall here in Lubbock.

Making Lubbock our home was a blessing, and I’m excited to care for the children and families in this incredible community for years to come.
