As a parent, you do all you can to make sure your child grows up with the best oral health and the happiest smile. Even with good home care, dental decay and traumatic injuries happen and they affect the integrity of a tooth. It is our goal to keep your child’s primary teeth intact until the permanent teeth erupt. When teeth have larger cavities or fractures due to trauma, a crown becomes a reliable option.
Crowns are a restorative procedure most often used for teeth that have large dental cavities, significant wear from grinding, or loss of tooth structure from trauma. A crown is a “cap” cemented onto an existing tooth that usually covers the portion of the tooth above the gum line. In effect, the crown becomes the tooth’s new outer surface.
Pediatric crowns traditionally are made of stainless steel, but we also offer pediatric crowns that are white, particularly for the front teeth and aesthetic areas. Crowns are typically more durable than dental fillings, offering great protection from future dental cavities until the baby tooth is ready to fall out.

NuSmile Zr Zirconia Crowns are made of zirconia ceramic, a biocompatible material, and are available as a restorative option here at Double T Smiles. These crowns offer superior esthetics and durability for the front and back baby teeth, particularly in individuals who grind or clench their teeth. Though they are a more expensive treatment option due to the nature of the material and the time it takes to place them correctly, they do offer the same level of protection to the baby tooth and superior esthetics!

NuSmile BioFlx Crowns are the world's first flexible, durable, and esthetic pediatric crown option. For many years, stainless steel crowns have remained the preferred restoration for primary teeth in the back of the mouth due to their flexibility, adaptability, and ease of use. The BioFlx crowns are tooth-colored and are made of a biocompatible, hybrid resin polymer commonly used in medicine.
The BioFlx crowns maintain the preferred qualities of the stainless steel crown, while offering a more esthetic option. Though they are a more expensive treatment option than a stainless steel crown and are not recommended for patients who grind or clench, they do offer the same level of cavity protection to a baby tooth without compromising esthetics.
